John architects the internal platform Georgia Tech’s startup incubator runs on, and recently shipped an approved AI gateway that gives its staff tools a sanctioned path to large language models. He’ll talk through what it takes to put AI inside an institution that has real compliance constraints — and what should ride on that path once it exists.

My grandfather worked at the Pentagon. When people asked what he did, he told them he made red tape.
This morning John Avery walked us through how ATDC AIs, and somewhere in it he described the robots as a pair of scissors.
What a world.
Red tape isn’t a conspiracy. Nobody’s being evil. Somebody has to write it. Somebody has to record what was decided, who approved it, what it cost, and why.
And that’s the part that’s changing. Robots are genuinely excellent at reading and writing documentation. They know what information is required. They know the shape it has to arrive in. And unlike my grandfather, they don’t mind doing it.
So let them do it. The rules were never the problem. The paperwork was.
